In the middle

I realize I'm very behind on my posting. It's been a very busy few weeks for the Mannion family, and there's lots to write about, but I haven't had the time. I thought I would have the time this week, but I've spent the majority of my time cleaning sand out of my pool--which is a story that is not funny yet, but will be I'm sure once a little more time has passed. Anyway, I was sitting here, thinking about posting, but having too much of a pity party to really start anything. I instead worked on thinking of the appropriate excuse to give my visiting teaching companion to not go visiting teaching last night. I just felt like I wasn't going to be able to find my Sunday face, and honestly didn't want to try. Then I got a little perspective.

I found out a dear friend is going through something much harder than what I'm dealing with, and I realized I really needed to get over myself. I went visiting teaching, and got to know another amazing sister, who is also in the middle of something herself. I was reminded that despite what faces each of us may present to the world, chances are everyone around us is in the middle of something, too. So for any of you who may be struggling, remember that you're not alone, that you are loved--and probably by people you aren't even aware of, that your struggle is legitmate--even if you think it pales in comparison to the trials of others, and:

Ye cannot behold with your natural eyes, for the present time, the design of your God concerning those things which shall come hereafter, and the glory which shall follow after much tribulation.
For after much tribulation come the blessings. Wherefore the day cometh that ye shall be crowned with much glory; the hour is not yet, but is nigh at hand.
Remember this, which I tell you before, that you may lay it to heart, and receive that which is to follow.
Doctrine and Covenants 58:3-5
I take so much comfort in those verses. Knowing that there is a plan, even if I can't understand all the details now, makes all the difference. So, if you are in the middle of something, know that I'm thinking of, and praying for, you.

Amen. Maybe next week will be a better one or at least one filled with less sand and "hay".

: )

Loved your post - good reminder that everyone has "something" and its so important to be on the look out (and listen to the Spirit) for ways to help. Hope your "something" is working itself out...

BTW - I'm still waiting to hear the entire "no underpants at the doctor" story:)
